About the Provider

Dr. Latz completed his medical education at the Texas A&M University College of Medicine. There, he was elected to membership as a junior member of Alpha Omega Alpha, which was awarded to the top 7% of the class. He completed vascular surgery residency at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, where he was trained in advanced techniques to treat vascular diseases. This involved ample training in minimally invasive procedures, and significant training in open surgical techniques. During residency, Dr. Latz received his MPH (Master of Public Health) from the Harvard School of Public Health, and he has authored over 50 peer reviewed publications and textbook chapters. Prior to joining Baptist Health System, Dr. Latz was an Assistant Professor of Surgery at University of South Florida, where he taught residents and fellows and continued his vascular surgery research to help advance the field of vascular surgery. There, he played a pivotal role in bringing deep venous arterialization (an advanced technique to treat peripheral arterial disease) to the institution.

Dr. Latz believes that each patient with vascular disease deserves a surgeon who can treat the disease process in multiple ways. There are certain patients who benefit from less invasive therapies and there are some who require open surgical expertise. Others are best served by a combination of the two (i.e. a “hybrid procedure”). Dr. Latz uses his broad skill set, including access to the newest technologies, to best decide how to treat each patient.
